Yes indeed. Most ancient art histroy courses start with reproductions of cave art which includes scuplture of human figures and the animals they were rising or hunting. The oldest are in the 35,000 bce range. The pigments are charcole and various earth colors and the vehicle is composed of organic fat-like oils. Some are reported to be still not dried hard.

What is completely unaccounted for is the cultural side of these works, what they mean, how they functioned in the social setting, etc. You have to practice to get this good, so how were they practicing and teaching?
