1) The old Havana mob was looking for revenge. 2) He had lost his anti-communist spine and was about to withdraw from Vietnam. 3) He was doing too much acid with Cord Meyer's wife in the White House. 4) All that French food and high culture in the WH was making America go soft. 5) LBJ wanted to be president. 6) Other.
