When you learn Greek, you have to learn a different language practically for each author. One for Homer, one for Plato, one for Thucydides, etc.

My study was brief, but I will vouch for the fact that he was an amazing poet. He didn't shit marble. And his epic style has an exquisite lyrical, melancholy undertone.
