Something that would fundamentally and permanently shift the balance of power. A livable income for all regardless of labor; the nationalization of universities and unlimited public education from cradle to grave; free, high-quality public housing on demand; etc. Of course, these ideas may be mediocre compared with others'.

Like Seattle, OWS will eventually dissipate into a thousand different things: revolutionary, moderate, strategic, batshit crazy, and everything in between. In the future, some of these will coalesce again in new, unexpected forms. But I would hate for any large section of the current mobilization to begin its descent into the politics of compromise quite so quickly. The longer it shares a radical vision, however vague and/or unrealistic, the more potential it will offer for the future. Those of its participants who wind up doing ACORN/Citizen Action-y type things will have the rest of their lives for them.
