At the '68 MLA Convention the radical caucus threw a party, with a band. 
The band played so fucking loud we could not talk to each other. The 
band insisted they were expressing the politics of joy. It was resolved 
when Louis Kampf or someone informed the band that they would not be 
paid if the volume was not reduced. Politics of Joy gave way to a more 
reasonable option. :-)
