[lbo-talk] madness in Oakland

If anyone has any real evidence that Dean knows her ass from a hloe in the ground when it comes to how political organizations on the left come into existence, I wish they would present it. Nothing posted on this list over the last month has offered any reason to pay attention to her.

Did she recognize that Wisconsin was a great victory for the left -- for the left worldwide?

If she didn't, then she knows nothing about left politics. It's odd: Since April in almost every local meeting here I have characterized Wisconsin as lighting a long fuse. And the people involved in local action and planning have accepted and repeated that; they've based their planning on it. They are rather better "Communists" than Dean is. Hell, people in Germany and elsewhere in the world have based their planning on that view of Wisconsin. I think my provisional definition of a Communist at this time is anyone who sees Wisconsin as a great victory of the global left. I began to see it that way when I read the first paragraph of Josh's post from the Capitol. Of course that was partly because I recognized the echo from the '60s at their best in that post.
