this is the first i've read about this sort of thing, although it's probably
come up here or on pen-l at some point. curious what you all think about
these kinds of efforts. on the one hand it seems sort of
hopelessly-romantically-anarcho-syndicalistically retro-insulationism (i
just made that up), but on the other, it seems on its face (knowing not much
about its economic viability or wider ramifications, if any) a nice solution
for communities to establish a certain kind of social and economic
stability.
