Coming through customs with the Marx-Engels Werke, obtained very cheaply, shortly after the Wall came down, the agent asked me, What's in the bag? I said, truthfully, the complete works of Marx and Engels. Get along with you, he said, waving me through without even looking in the bag. Very funny, wise guy. Probably the level of security is higher now.

Back when I lived in the 'hood, a neighbor who didn't like the music I played (he was a crank) and couldn't get the apartment complex to do anything about it - because it wasn't loud enough outside the door for them to do anything -- decided to harrass me by calling the police and, at first, telling them that he suspected domestic violence.

In that "search" they found a broken beebee gun in my son's room. They picked it up and asked, "What's this?" in a tone of voice indicating that they'd discovered  contraband or something.
