Actually, that's not true; quite a few ex-SWP people (even from the top leadership) pretty much escaped it in their thought and responses. But obviously it' difficult, especially if the _only_ activist groups you have any experience with was the SWP (or YSA). But it apparently isn't easy -- even to escape some of the deliberate lies peddled to SWP rank & file. (I'm thinking in particular with myths that survive re SDS, the Panthers, & Malcolm X (adopted after death by the SWP and hugged close to their bosom).

P.S. The quarrel between Lou & Doug was obscene, but both have conveniently forgotten that mixed among the slanders & pure name-calling, each had some important points to make about the other. My guess is that neither can separate a person from the person's thought, and hence it is impossible to disagree without slandering the person one disagrees with.
