Seems to me that the attack on the schools is of a piece with the attack on the working class. In the old days, employers needed some sort of upskilling along with the discipline. Now, since the jobs of the future are mostly shit, they just want the discipline, cheaply.

Right. And, if they want skilled workers, they can get them from India, China, Russia, and soon, all of Europe.
