[lbo-talk] Ron Paul on the Civil War

To paraphrase,

"So it does not matter whether Obama himself is an imperialist. He is seeking support of people who are, and he must act as one. AFAIK, Democrats are defined by two and only issues - imperialism (and terrorism more generally) and bailing out Wall St - period. There is nothing more to them. To gain their support, any politician must express imperialist views and endorse bailing out Wall St. All Democratic candidates must do it or lose support - they only problem they face is how to do it in a convincing and appealing way." (And that of course is Obama's strength.)\

In fact, far from being a racist, Ron Paul is the only major party candidate who has attacked the single most racist program of the federal government, the "war on drugs." --CGE
