one of the more interesting articles, which provides and empirical illustration of Foucault's theory about power is Lynn HAney's article, "Home boys, babis, and men in suits: the state and the reproduction of male dominance."
Additionally, there's some interesting research from black feminists who've talked about the way that African Americans have been subjected to a kind of intra-class warfare. by opening up state jobs in welfare work, social services, etc. the welfare system asks one group of blacks to monitor and surveil the lives of another group in order to reinscribe and reinforce relations of domination, deploying an ideology and politics of "respectability".
