[WS:] I disagree. They may be temps with no job security or benefits, but their work is relatively pleasant and has considerable autonomy vis a vis, say that of a K12 teacher. K12 teachers not only work hard but have to take abuse from students, their parents, and administration. And they can be fired when test scores fall below the mark.
Not to mention, of course, people working in retail, where they not only get abuse by customers and bosses, but they have to endure significant physical strain, and have zero job security ans zero autonomy. Retail is the largest employer in the US -larger than any other industry.
Adjuncts and other academic temps do not have it that bad in comparison.
