I neither said nor implied that they do; I'm saying that since there are *so many more violent crimes* than prisoners (it's probably a factor of 5 or more), it must be the case that most of the criminals aren't in jail. Doug seemed to express that we've got enough of them in jail ("how many truely dangerous folk do we have?") ...
The answer is: more than we have in jail/prison!
