Naked short selling is kind of like selling futures of a commodity. you
"sell" it and at some point you have "deliver" the share. When you actually
need to deliver it, you go out and buy it from someone else. the problem
comes, as the article notes, when there are more short sellers then actual
stocks so that not everyone can make delivery. Or at least that's how i
understand it. someone please correct me if I'm totally wrong.
