Pre-WW 1: Hysteria (woman's complaint)

WW1: Shell Shock

WW2: Battle Fatigue

Vietnam to present: PTSD

PTSD has the advantage of covering the cases of abused children or spouses, rape victims, etc as well as military. A rather large number of those diagnosed as suffering depression have been victims of child abuse (physical, mental, sexual) or spousal abuse.

See the fine book: Achilles in Vietnam.
