Interesting, isn't it.  It shows in a nutshell the roots of modern
terrorism - the marriage of Salafist money and the cannon fodder from
x-Soviet republics and satellite states.  The ultimate irony of it is that
it is the last episode of the Marxist trope of capitalism building the
tools of its own destruction - as both the Salafists and the mujahadeen
would have not existed as power without US financial backing.  I do not
think that Salafist-financed terrorism will end capitalism as we know it,
but it will do a considerable damage.

As I said before, the US should have supported the USSR in Afghanistan when
it tried to prop up a moderately civilised state there, and later when it
tried to transforms its system during "perestroika."  Instead US rulers
supported barbarians and splinter mafia states and now we are reaping the
fruits of this support.  The 99 percent is both fighting a losing war in
Afghanistan and bearing the brunt of terrorist attacks while the architects
of this "policy" are hiding behind enhanced security walls.
