I finally got to a pretty stunning section which was the opening of the cold
war
and the lead into Korea. Every general on the payroll wanted a fleet of
B-29s and about fifty atom bombs to have at Korea, China, just about
anywhere in Asia, well for no particular reason
So I was finally appalled. The anti-commie stuff had all the substance of a
wave of anti-intellectualism, something like penis envy in liberal arts
