I do not see any difference at all. Cameras can do much more than just capturing people speeding or running red lights, they can record your licence tags, who is in the car with you, pattern of your driving, security cameras can do face recognition and so on. Every time you use a credit card, they now only have your smile captured on security cameras, but a list of what you bought as well. Private companies such as Target have been mining this information for years to tailor their adverts. I find this far more invasive than cops gathering information. I think it is their legitimate job.

You also avoided my main point that there is not much evidence of cops framing people despite that expanding surveillance. This speaks volumes about the fantasies of the *potential* use of those data against ordinary citizens. By that logic, every man is a potential rapist. To me these are just fantasies of people detached from reality.

And quite frankly, I see no problem in cops trying to catch scum who blow up people to "make a statement" about their fucked up religion or national pride. So far I see not even a shred of evidence that this information is used for any other purpose. I sincerely doubt that it would used against people who are trying to change the system by legal means, such as forming political parties or alternative institutions.
