As far as I dug into it last time this subject came up, public health
researchers -- to the extent they haven't been hamstrung by our fellow
travelers in congress -- find that presence of guns leads to more homicide,
even excepting the US. These results came as a surprise to me.

Couldn't we also examine the resistance to the notion that a gun can make a violent situation more so? It's not like the marines have a creed to their steak knives.
