Why not just say, "among leftists"? This is a serious question. Why is it so much harder to say "U.S. leftists" than "The U.S. Left" (the caps are always implicit in the phrase).

We need a Left that is just roughly organized. We don't have it. Why pretend that we do. That merely justifies being lazy on the sidelines.
