Any Ken Loach film is worth watching at least once (though you often need subtitles even when the film is in English).

SALT OF THE EARTH is great as well -- the ideal complement/antidote to the same year's ON THE WATERFRONT.

The Sayles is competent if visually undistinguished.

BORN IN FLAMES is crazy/wondrous and available on YouTube (while there you can watch Hitchcock's rare UNDER CAPRICORN -- not anarchist, but deeply feminist and queer).
