How to characterize the contemporary Chinese social system - capitalist comme les autres, state capitalist, still a workers’ state controlled by the Communist Party - albeit a deformed one - as some on the left contend?

I’d be curious to know hedge fund magnate Fred Hu’s answer. Hu is representative of the new class of powerful globetrotting capitalists who have risen in China in recent decades with the encouragement of the CCP. The former head of Goldman Sach’s China operations has surrounded himself with other Goldman alumni and is a magnet for foreign investment capital pouring into China.
