Decline of the West?

Hey, can anyone tell me if Cornel West has responded to the Katha Pollitt
"attack" on him in The Nation a week or two ago?  Has anyone read the book
he co-wrote on "the family" and is it as bad as Pollitt says?  Just
curious, and Ive no time to read the thing myself....  I read her piece on
him last night, and I thought it was harsh and more ad hominen and
polemical than analytical, though I do agree he sure as hell should have
removed his name from that egregious Institute of American Values
committee/document.
