Yeltsin granted immunity from prosecution: Kremlin
MOSCOW, Dec 31 (AFP) - Acting president Vladimir Putin signed a decree Friday granting Boris Yeltsin immunity from criminal prosecution, a Kremlin statement said.
It added that Yeltsin cannot be arrested, searched or questioned by prosecutors under any condition.
Yeltsin and his family have been accused of illegal business practices, and his aides of money laundering. Many journalists and analysts say Yeltsin stayed in the Kremlin to keep his presidential immunity.
