they were. my daddy-o got drafted twice actually. 'cepts one was waaaaay more fun than the other. that is, he got drafted into the brooklyn dodgers
and two years later into the army and that was the end of that story. always a source of immense hilarity, to me, that they use the word draft/drafted. i can't recall when the pro-sports draft started for baseball, but i know basketball was around WWII. now there's a topic: the rise of uni sports teams, athletic scholarships, and the relationship to pro-sports.
i'd *still* like to know who's responsible for making this claim that a draft would make for a stronger anti-war movment.
