Really? I'd always read that he never has owned a car. Pretty weird to develop such an affinity for getting all greasy w/o actually owning one.

Hmm -- Americans go to Europe and rent cars all the time. Reading/ writing / speaking English doesn't seem to have much to do with driving. Haven't you noticed all those international traffic symbols? I bet no Real American has ever rolled a rig in WVa, eh?

Really? I have a 1988 Ford Festiva, definitely the prototypical "little disposable cafe" car, and it has 193,000 miles on it. Runs good too. Gets about 40 MPG. I've had no trouble fixing or having fixed anything on it except the AC which turns out to be dealer installed. It is only a death trap if some yuppie scum talking on a cell phone rams into you with the cattle card on the front of their SAV that has never seen anything but pavement but has 4WD for some stupid reason anyway.
