A "Self-Respecting" Socialist

I am liberal democrat (small "l," small "d"), but I don't see from what perspective a self-respecting "radical democrat" can treat big Al as anything but a right

Now let me get this right: you are a liberal democrat who thinks that Al Gore is a right-winger and Eduard Bernstein an orthodox Marxist. I am not sure where that leaves George Bush, much less Trent Lott, and Rosa Luxemburg and Vladimir Lenin on this political spectrum, but I am left with on question: Why in the world would I take someone with this set of political analyses seriously when he decides I can't be a "self-respecting" radical democrat?

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. -- Frederick Douglass --
