Uh . . . 'social fascist' was an odious and sectarian term because it was applied to other *working class* parties of the left -- most famously the SPD in 30's Germany -- by no stretch of the imagination could that apply to the Democratic party. One may just as well ridicule left political attacks on the Republican party as being a type of stalinist style slander .
Methinks U.S. leftlibs, wallowing in their 'pop front' collaboratism, are prone to flatter themselves too easily. A particularly irritating example was that pinhead american 'leftist' Todd Gitlin appearing on Canadian TV during the last US election denouncing 'stalinist' style attacks on the Dems. as being in the same vein as the 'social fascist' label. Apparently all those Greens and social activists splitting the "left" vote let a veritable Hitler like Bush get in. Yeah right -- if Bush is Hitler what was Gore, Gregor Strasser?
