no, that is not why i say that. it's not because she deserved it. no one deserves it at all. i'm disgusted by the fact that she has no understanding of how this kind of power works, that she'd sooner jump to some sort of conspiracy theory about it all being an attack on her politics. she can't quite grasp the fact that this is the way power works every single day. in fact, i was arguing that she and the greens might be better off presenting things as they actually happened because it would show other white middle class people that this is how if fucking works. they get in your face, they wield their power and when you fight back they nab you. the point is that she is as outraged as she is because she's white. that's the point. did you even read art's post? why aren't you ragging on him, too. because he's saying the same thing. it's not that she has no right to be, but that her anger would be a little more focused, a little more effective (and probably less apt to tend toward dishonesty or paranoia) were she a little more knowledgeable about the world around her.

believe me, the only way i get it is because i've been poor most of my life and live in a neighborhood that's about 10% white. i understand why whites don't get it.nad i know i'll never quite get it myself, no matter how piss poor i am. but i'll tell ya, i never ever would have ever posted a press release about my experiences with the sizzlean without pointing out that this is the way the police state works. yadda. chuck0 said something like this awhile ago about how whites react to getting hassled by the cops when they don't quite grasp that it is SOP. maybe he can recall his complaint. none of it means that any of us are not disgusted and it sure as heck doesn't mean that we think she deserved it. but damn, bryan, she shouldn't have been surprised. she could only be surprised because of her privilege. again, had she had a clue, the anger would have been focused constructively toward a statement that indicated some common cause with others who are in similar (worse) boats.
