The pro-Israel lobby has always been big on crushing Iraq. Over the summer they were in the forefront of extending sanctions when many of Bush's oil buddies were for limiting them. And they are in the forefront of pushing this. It's no hard to see their interest. It would immediately make the war on terror into the US and Israel against the rest of the Middle East.
