I'm in a bad enough mood today to think that nobody in the Departments of Defense or State ever seriously believed that air raids would do much more than blow up innocent bystanders and worthless rocks, and that their professed surprise is like Captain Renault's in _Casablanca_: "I'm shocked, SHOCKED to see that gambling is going on here!"

Meanwhile, the plant that processes mail for Manhattan is a potential massive anthrax vector, and the union is *SUING* to close it? Whatever happened to strikes? -- Curtiss, in the throes of PMS
