There is a difference. The state of Israel has never been able to support itself, but depends wholly upon subsidy, from the US. It is artificial, in a way that the US is not.
US imperialism (and British for that matter) is a far greater threat to the world than the tin-pot regime in Israel, so it ought to be the real target of Arab nationalism, the organ-grinder not the monkey.
But there is an American nation, that is both popular and creative to be disentangled from the Monroe Doctrine. The state of Israel, by contrast, is not a nation, it is only an institutional expression of the victory of European anti-Semitism over the Jews. It is, in fact, a ghetto. For the sake of the Jews, as much as the Arabs, it should be torn down. -- James Heartfield
