Actually, I don't think anyone deprecated high technology _per_se_. It was introduced as a red herring by the Hobbesian party apparently because, unlike Mr. Hobbes, they are unable to directly refute heretical rejection of work fetishism, or otherwise give a coherent argument for their beliefs. But in doing so they raised another interesting question, the possible connection between coercion and high technology, and if it exists, the moral consequences of such a connection. Alas, I have been unable to inspire any of them to take that bait even with fat, four- or five-paragraph worms. We remain at gibe level.
