|| sorry i didn't clarify but i was inquiring about conventional

|| weapons, like the article specifically refered to assault helicopters

|| i know isreal doesn't produce helicopters but gets them from

|| some company in texas....of only slightly more signifigance because

|| i know the assault helicopters will be used.

Israel's IAI sells upgrade packages for several old aircraft, including the Soviet-built Hind attack choppers that India has. E.g. recently Turkey has been getting its Phantoms upgraded (badly) by IAI and another Israeli company is probably upgrading Turkey's M-60 tanks. This is a niche weapons market where Israel does very well. But India will be building its new fighter not with Israel but with Russia.

i din't know

|| about the nuke thing though except that ind. and pak. got

|| it all from the west like france etc. the article just suggested that

|| there was a much stronger relationship between india and isreal

|| than what was reported in the indian press during the shimon peres

|| visit. like that is presented as a new level of diplomatic relations

|| in respone to the "12/13" attack (indian govt. seems almost excited

|| they have something comparable to "9/11") that i thought india

|| was using as a

|| bargaining chip against pakistan but if there was already close

|| diplomatic ties then that visit didn't mean anything except

|| some PR spit in the face to pakistan and now Iran.

Well obviously Pakistan is looking very bad from all angles and Pak extremists are making all the wrong moves, thereby destroying whatever case Pakistan had in the Kashmir issue. India is taking full advantage of this and the Peres visit is doubly significant bec if you have Israel's support, your fortunes in the Beltway will suddenly change for the better too, as Turkey has been finding out recently.

I've read but can't find an article recently about an Israeli-Turkish-Indian alliance. There's another article at http://www.science.co.il/hi/Turkish/Articles/Varadarajan-T-20010919.asp America's Allies For the Long Haul: Israel, India and Turkey will never waver Author: Tunku Varadarajan

Published in From Wall Street Journal - Sept. 19, 2001

The problem with all this is that Israel has close ties with China, and Turkey is, after all, a Muslim country that is trying to maintain some sort of relationship with the Arabs. The China thing doesn't seem to be bothering the Indians too much, as they reportedly never brought it up during the discussions. Whatever the conflicts may be, it looks like all 3 parties want to make the most of it, so at the very least they will do arms deals, carry out low-profile military exercises, share intelligence, and engage in all manner of joint covert activity, as Turkey and Israel have been doing for at least a decade..

|| well it's pretty clear india is trying to apply isreals "terrorism"

|| policy to kashmir

Yes and like Israel and the occupied territories, India does not own Kashmir and is bound by a UN resolution to hold a referendum there to settle the sovereignty issue.

||

|| those are good websites thanks for the links!
