But mammoths et. al. had to eat mammoth-sized quantities of *plants*. "Ice age" explains nothing--if, that is, there ever was an "ice age" rather than brief, catastrophically induced, episodes of glaciation followed by genuinely rapid melting at lower latitudes. In an earlier post, you wrote about Siberian consumption of mammoth meat. The meat had to have been preserved by flash freezing, not by gradual cooling.
