I was just curious, and I'm probably not the only one. It's a big damn pain to do transcripts, and it'd be great if software did most of the job. But there are so many errors in one of Michael P's short emails (and he speaks slowly & clearly, unlike me) that I have my doubts.
Is closed-captioning on TV done by voice recognition? I was watching the news one night in a loud bar, so all I could catch of the soundtrack was the text - which kept rendering the name of the governor of New York as "Pack-tacky." Which is pretty funny, but I'm guessing not some wag's critique-on-the-fly.
