That is because physicists -- lucky bastards -- aren't embattled in a Gramscian war of positions, unlike Darwinists, who still need to "redo Darwin" regularly in public, engaged in a cultural battle against the tide of obscurantism, even though they have already won in the scientific battlefield. We Marxists are in a worse position than Darwinists are. I look forward to a day when we don't have to redo "Darwin" or "Marx."

Anyhow, "Darwinism" and "Marxism" are just labels. If you object to an ism named after a human being, you can call it scientific socialism or historical materialism (taking the term back from Justin), both of which have been used interchangeably with "Marxism." -- Yoshie
