"It's very much a generational thing," said Marzolini. "If you're 55 and over, the chances of you supporting it are not all that strong."
Over age 65, support for gay marriage dropped to 28 per cent, with 60 per cent opposed.
As the population ages, Marzolini said, "the numbers will get stronger and stronger in favour of same-sex marriage.
