Ed Miliband now works for Gordon Brown, and has done for a few years. He's on leave from his post of Special Adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer while he's at Harvard.

I've heard people who are in a position to know say that he's the smarter and the left-er Miliband brother.

So basically he's doing for Brown what David Miliband did for Blair a few years earlier, before he (David) became Blairite MP for South Shields and then Minister of State for Education (in charge of schools, I think, or, perhaps, "School Standards": he's the one who comes on TV to congratulate the nation's schoolchildren for passing their exams and slags off anyone who suggests that the exams are getting easier).
