Well, I dont know, but isn't it true that if the Dems hold on to the states they won last time and add, say, Ohio and West Virginia, that they come out on top?

The Kennedys have always been popular in West Virginia (my father was a campaign manager for Bobby there) and now that the tariff thing has gone down the tubes, I can imagine Ted Kennedy going down there and rallying the troops for Kerry (should he get the nomination) and bringing WV back into the Democratic fold. I dont know about Ohio.

So, I think the Dems can win it. But, as you say, never underestimate Karl Rove, er, I mean, George Bush
:) The Mayberry machiavellians have got a lot of
scummy tricks in their bag. I think Kerry will make a nice target. It also occurs to me that his wife will make an excellent target for Rove and company. She appears thoughtful, and Rove will be able to translate that into smug and brooding. I have already heard one commentator refer to her "exotic" accent.
