Position: DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR WBAI Radio is seeking a full-time Development Director to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising program that will include:

- Major Donors: Supervise, develop and monitor major donor program, increase the giving level of existing donors, supervise and coordinate on-air membership drives in conjunction with programming department.

- List Management: Director Candidate must know how to identify prospective lists, segment a list of prospective mailing lists for particular attributes (i.e. zip code, geographic area, gift frequency, ability, connection, affiliation, etc.) and how to purchase lists for one-time use at best possible rates.

- Foundations/Direct Mail: Securing new foundation support; doing the necessary researches, making the contacts, writing and tracking of grants, supervise direct mail program and design package.

- Marketing: Supervise and coordinate outreach and publicity.

- Planned Giving: Developing a bequest and planned giving program.

- Special Events: Set up a series of mid-size fundraising events, with two signature events per year.

- Volunteer management: Know how to work with fundraising volunteers, how to motivate, retain, and sustain volunteers for a variety of fundraising tasks.

- Other: Director may be required to work with a station Development Committee to fulfill fundraising goals.

The Development Director will report to the General Manager and coordinate with the Pacifica Network financial and development staff. The position is full-time with an excellent benefits package.

Requirements include:

- A minimum of five years professional fundraising experience. - Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and communications skills. - Planning, budgeting, and excellent computer skills necessary. Word and Excel a must, Memsys a major plus. - Marketing experience and experience with movements for social change and especially non-profit radio extremely helpful. - Knowledge of online fundraising is preferable. - Must be able to work independently in a highly diverse workplace.
