Can someone explain to me why lefties hate Moore so much? I've never paid much attention to any of it, because it struck me as upper Manhattan gossip among left glitterati.

This is, of course, only conjecture but I think much of the anger we see is spill-over from the media sector (many of whom can be considered, in that brain dead NPR way, leftys). Moore has embarassed these ball-less wonders to no end with his film - they had their chance to challenge the admin's claims as those claims were being made but chose instead to report from the Pentagon or the White House, parroting official press releases.
Surely they know that people who're moved by F911 will, after asking unflattering questions about the admin next turn their attention to the press corps that strove dilligently (with notable exceptions) to do the minimum amount of work and accept as unalloyed fact the maximum number of official statements.
No one likes to be revealed as a useless brown-noser. To the extent Moore has done this via his film (implicitly, just by compiling info-points and showing previously un-shown images) he's hated by the punk-ass American media and, by extension, allied segments of the so-called left.
