Never mind Canada, I wonder how war on Iran would play out among the
neighbouring Shias in Iraq? I doubt a second term Bush admin would do more
than sanction an Israeli air strike against Iranian nuclear reactors, while
enouraging the internal liberal opposition, and even an Israeli strike would
be fraught with great risk. The US has to be worried about Shia
counterattacks against their forces in Iraq -- an everpresent threat since
the Sadr revolt. Interesting, isn't it, how US troops in South Korea and
Iraq have become as much hostages as instruments of US agressive designs in
these regions? My own guess is that the US is trying to pressure the
Europeans to put more economic pressure on the Iranians. Then again, I also
thought Bush would follow the same "bipartisan" foreign policy as Gore...
