I agree, esp about the coming tributes, which I'll try to avoid. For many of us, Reagan was *the* enemy of progress, a true monster whose assault on Cent. America remains one of the most shameful things this country's ever done. He was a twisted guy in many respects (read Edmund Morris's excellent Reagan bio "Dutch" for the Full Ronnie), but still human, filled with fear, anger and lies -- like the rest of us. It's one thing to denounce what Reagan did (to the extent that he did anything independent of his handlers), and another to cheer his death. He was 93 for God's sake. How much longer was he gonna live?

And recall that two of his kids, Patti and Ron Jr., were very left of center & openly opposed to the old man's regime (read Paul Krassner on his friendship with R Jr.). Would any of you gloat in front of them while they mourn their father's death?
