Good point. It would also explain why so many lefties didn't like it - they like morality plays too. And PC types don't like it because the Americans were alienated by the Japanese landscape; as Liza just said over my shoulder, a lot of PC types find it immoral to be alienated by a foreign setting, even though it's a real feeling that has to be dealt with.
