I asked a cmde in India, a trade union organiser, to comment to me on Ms A.Roy. His comment I found interesting.:
"Comrades
Writers like Ms Arundhati Roy thrive on their pro west anti India images that they have assiduosly build on degrading everthing Indian. She has criticised Left but supported CPI-M's WSF , She supports tribal movement but criticises Naxals and othe Radical Left movements.... since the past few years when she rose to fame and prominence I have tracked her way of thinking... And have come to no conclusion. My personal feeling is that she wants to hog limelight and by her writings and statements try to create contoversies so that she may be in the headflines. Otherwise look at her track record of supporting any movement ... Whether it was Anti Nuclear or the Anti Narmada Dam or the recent one whre she came in support of the militant triblas of Kerala; but in the end apart from writing some self confusing articles what has she done?
Did not take any step in defending the hapless tribals from the police attrocities neither went to visit them after the incident was wiped from the headlines.
