Just rubbing one of my pet peeves. Activists who latch onto ONE book and/or "expert" who ignore or decline to investigate further the debates that exist on every question, both intra-left and between the left, broadly defined, and our centrist and conservative opponents. Over the decades talking with tablers at demos, I've become increasingly annoyed at activists with no awareness of the slender basis on which they pitch their solutions.

On your specific point, about peak oil and FTW, the tablers at demos I've talked with that sell the Heinberg book, haven't even googled or visited amazon.com to see that there are these books as well, on the issue.
