Interim Executive Director Posting Description
Pacifica is the oldest network of noncommercial community-based radio stations in the United States. The Pacifica Foundation is committed to peace and social justice, and seeks to involve in its governance and operations individuals committed to these principles. The Executive Director is charged with the responsibility for all day-to-day management activities of the Pacifica Foundation, including hiring and supervising all staff, implementing Board policy and by-laws, fundraising and development, national programming production and distribution, fiscal and physical integrity, compliance with CPB and FCC rules and regulations, and generally ensuring that the Foundation is managed in a fiscally and socially-responsible fashion in compliance with all state and Federal laws and requirements and the mission statement of the Foundation. The Executive Director reports to the collective body of the Pacifica Foundation Board of Directors. The ED is selected, supervised and discharged by the Board and subject to annual evaluation by the Board.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE: Emphasis on executive management skills (e.g., financial and program planning, managerial expertise, and other human relations skills); communication skills (written and oral); and broadcasting industry skills (programming, marketing, fund raising, etc.) and the ability to work cooperatively with the Board; demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse and multiracial/multiethnic constituencies including staff, listeners and communities.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: College degree required in broadcasting, business, or similar education combined with at least 10 years of associated job experience, including experience as a 501(c) (3) non-profit director, or similar position, two years of which are preferably as a General Manager of a public broadcasting station or similar position. Master's degree preferred.
SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $100,000, depending on experience.

This is a temporary interim position which may last approximately six months, more or less. The interim director may be hired on a consulting or salary basis to be negotiated.
