If you are out in the sticks enough, this is as American as apple pie.

I come from Mississippi, raised to a large degree from my great-grandmother
who told me tales of the good ole days.  She was openly nostalgic for the
Klan because if you were a really noxious wife-beater/child beater they
would stop by your place and horse-whip you.

There is another feature of the old south that exists to this day:  You
catch your wife or your daughter fucking around in the house and kill them
and it's going off the books.  That's your family and in podunk towns
throughout this country that's the way it goes down, the cops know their
place.  That hasn't changed one bit. They died in an accident or something
and no one is going to mess with you about it.

It's identical to what goes down in tribal nowhereland inhabited by Muslims
(and not given the same breathless reporting Hindus, Sihks, or the
aforementioned Christians).
